A full day is no longer a lost guest: they wait for your text.
Resatop's waiting list keeps the guest who finds your restaurant full. They leave their mobile number; when a cancellation or a no-show frees a table, Resatop offers it to the first party that fits, holds it for a few minutes and sends a text with a link to take it in one click. Your team has nothing to do.

A table is waiting for you
Table for 2 guests, 20:30.
You have 4:30 left to take it.
I'll take the tablePreview with a sample restaurant.
What the guest goes through, from a full day to a table.
- On a full day, the date stays clickable, with a bell: they leave their name, their French mobile number and, if they wish, their email.
- They follow their place on a page (“2 parties ahead of you”, as a guide) and can leave it whenever they like.
- When a table is theirs, they get a text (and an email) with a link. The table is held for the time limit you set.
- One click on “I'll take the table” creates the booking, which they can then change or cancel like any other.
What your team sees.
- Each party, with its status: waiting, notified (the table offered and until when it is held), confirmed, no reply or removed.
- The triggers: a cancellation, a no-show marked, a table released on the floor plan, a service or a time slot reopened.
- A table on offer cannot be booked online by another guest while the offer runs.
In three steps.
Step 1 · Setup
You turn it on in the settings
In Settings › Bookings, you tick the waiting list and set how long the guest has to answer: 5 minutes by default, from 2 to 15. It requires a subscription, because offers go out by text message.
Step 2 · During service
The guest leaves their mobile number
On the booking page, a full day stays clickable: the guest gives their name and French mobile number, and an email if they wish (optional). When a service still has places but not the time they want, they can wait for that exact time. A guest arriving mid-service picks “Right now”: if no table fits within the next half hour, they join the on-site queue without choosing a day or time, and get a “your table is ready” text.
Step 3 · Guest side
A table frees up, the guest takes it in one click
Cancellation, no-show marked, table released or day reopened: Resatop offers the table to the first party that fits, holds it for the time limit and sends a text with a link (and an email if the guest gave one). The guest confirms on the page: the booking lands in the planner. With no answer, the table goes to the next party.
Known limits and real conditions.
What the product does today, and what it does not: better to know before you try it.
- It requires a subscription: each text is billed €0.08 excl. VAT, like reminder texts, within your monthly cap. During a trial without a card, the waiting list is not offered.
- A French mobile number (06 or 07) is required. The guest cannot reply “YES” by text: they use the link.
- The estimated wait of a “right now” queue (“20 to 30 minutes”) only appears when your restaurant tracks meal durations (floor plan or dining-room capacity); otherwise only the position is shown (“2 parties ahead of you”). Either way it is a guide: a smaller party can go first if the table only suits them.
- The “right now” queue is only offered during a service (or in the half hour before it), and not if you close bookings during service. With no reply, it closes a quarter of an hour after the service ends.
- Only a cancellation, a no-show marked, a table released or a day reopened triggers an offer. In quota mode without a dining room capacity, a no-show keeps its quota and frees no table.
- After two offers left unanswered, the guest leaves the list; the list for a day closes once the day has passed and the number is erased.
- Your team can sign a guest up itself at the counter or on the phone, but only for a fully booked time: if a table is free, it saves a booking instead.
- A mobile number can be on at most two waiting lists at one restaurant.
- Offers go out in French, English or German, in the language of the page the guest used.
Frequently asked questions
Another question? Write to us.
How is the guest told when a table frees up?
By text message to their French mobile number, with a link to a page where they take the table in one click, and by email if they gave an address. The page also shows their place in the queue, as a guide. The guest never has to answer by text.
How long does the guest have to answer?
5 minutes by default; you set it between 2 and 15 minutes in Settings › Bookings. During that time the table is held: nobody else can book it online. With no answer, it is offered to the next party, and a guest who lets two offers pass leaves the list.
How much does the waiting list cost?
The feature is in the subscription. Only the texts are charged, €0.08 excl. VAT each like reminder texts, within your monthly cap (1000 by default); emails are free. It requires a subscription, even during the trial.
Can a guest wait for a specific time?
Yes. On a full day, the guest waits for any time in the service. When a service still has places but not the time they want, they choose that exact time and are only told if it frees up.
What does my team see?
A “Waiting list” section in the planner for the day shown, with each party, its status (waiting, notified, confirmed, no reply, removed), the table offered and until when it is held. The team can add a guest who walks up to the counter or calls, and remove someone who called back. It can also call a guest in the queue by hand (“Call now”) when a table is ready; everything else is automatic.
What happens to the guest's number?
It is used only to text the guest about that table and is erased as soon as the request is closed (table taken, declined, time run out or day passed). If the guest takes the table, it joins their guest record like any booking, under your responsibility; Resatop acts as your processor.
