Against no-shows: a card guarantee and a reminder text, set up by you.
A no-show is a booked table where nobody turns up. Resatop offers two protections that the restaurant owner sets up: a card guarantee, authorised through Stripe from a party size you choose, and a reminder by email and text message that your team sends from the planner so guests confirm they are coming.
No commission • EU hosting • No commitment

Card guarantee requested from the guest, before confirming
€80.00
8 guests × €10.00. The guest reads: “For this party size, a card guarantee of €80.00 will be requested. It is not charged if you come or if you cancel.”
Simulation: nothing is saved
- They come
- Released
- They cancel
- Released
- They don't show up
- Charged
Charging is never automatic: your team marks “No-show” in the planner once the time has passed, and confirms. The card is handled by Stripe: Resatop never receives the number. A booking with a card guarantee can be made up to 5 days ahead, because Stripe only keeps an authorisation for seven days.
Reminders, from the planner.
- €0.08 excl. VAT per message, on top of the subscription, only for messages accepted by the carrier.
- A monthly cap you set (1000 by default): beyond it, only the email is sent.
- The guest gives their French mobile number when booking, with nothing to tick. Sender “Resatop”.
- If the guest confirms through the link, the booking switches to “Reconfirmed” in the planner.
What your reminders cost
- Price of one text message
- €0.08 excl. VAT
- Per month
- €9.60 excl. VAT
Billed on top of the subscription. Example value: the monthly cap you set limits the spend.
The two protections, side by side.
| Card guarantee | Reminder text message | |
|---|---|---|
| Who triggers it | The product, on online bookings that reach your party-size threshold | Your team, from the planner, for one booking or for the whole service |
| What the guest sees | They save their card with Stripe before confirming their booking | An email, plus a text message if the option is on, with a link to confirm, change or cancel |
| What it costs | A feature of the subscription | €0.08 excl. VAT per message, on top of the subscription |
| What it requires | A booking made online, at most 5 days ahead | The guest's email; a French 06 or 07 mobile number, the option and a subscription for the text message |
| If the guest does not show up | Your team marks “No-show” and confirms: the card guarantee is charged | Nothing is charged: the reminder helps you find out sooner who will not come |
In three steps.
Step 1 · Setup
You set up the card guarantee and texts
In Settings › Bookings, you choose the party size from which a card is requested and the amount per guest, then turn on reminder text messages if you want them. Empty fields: no card guarantee.
Step 2 · During service
Your team sends reminders and checks in
From the planner, “Reconfirm” reminds one guest and “Reconfirm the service” reminds the whole service. Once the time has passed, the team marks “Arrived” or “No-show”; a no-show asks for confirmation before the guarantee is charged.
Step 3 · Guest side
The guest books and confirms
Above your threshold, the guest saves their card with Stripe before confirming: it is an authorisation, not a charge. They then receive the reminder with a link to confirm, change or cancel.
Known limits and real conditions.
What the product does today, and what it does not: better to know before you try it.
- Reminders are sent by your team: there is no automatic reminder the day before or on the day. Their timing cannot be scheduled.
- The text message is sent with the email, not instead of it: a guest without an email gets no reminder. The text requires a French mobile number (06 or 07), the option turned on, a subscription and a monthly cap not yet reached.
- The card guarantee only applies to bookings made online. Bookings entered by your team and group requests do not ask for one.
- Stripe keeps a card authorisation for only seven days: a booking with a card guarantee can be made up to 5 days ahead. Beyond that, the guest is asked to call the restaurant.
- If the authorisation has expired when you mark the no-show, the planner shows “Card guarantee expired, not charged” and nothing is charged.
- Charging is a step your team takes after marking “No-show”: nothing is charged automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Another question? Write to us.
Is the card guarantee a charge?
No, it is an authorisation. It is released if the guest comes or cancels, and charged when your team marks a no-show in the planner, as long as the card authorisation is still valid. While the guest saves their card, the seats are held for 40 minutes.
Who triggers the charge for a no-show?
Your team. Once the booking time has passed, they mark “No-show” in the planner, which then asks to confirm charging the guarantee amount. A cancellation, by the guest or by you, releases the card guarantee.
What if the card authorisation has expired?
Stripe keeps it for only seven days. If it has expired when you mark the no-show, the planner shows “Card guarantee expired, not charged” and nothing is charged. That is why a booking with a card guarantee can be made up to 5 days ahead.
Are reminder text messages automatic?
No. Your team sends them from the planner, for one booking or for the whole service. The reminder always goes by email; the text message is added if you have turned the option on, the guest gave a French mobile number and the monthly cap is not reached. The guest confirms, changes or cancels through the link in the message.
How much do reminder text messages cost?
€0.08 excl. VAT per message, on top of the subscription. Only messages accepted by the carrier are billed, with the following month's subscription, within the monthly cap you set (1000 by default).
Does Resatop see card numbers?
No. The card guarantee is handled by Stripe, which collects the card. Resatop never receives the number, only the authorisation's identifier, amount and status.
