When you can't pick up, The Assistant takes the booking.
Resatop IA brings together Resatop's AI tools; the first is The Assistant, a phone assistant for restaurants. When your line is busy or unanswered, call forwarding makes it pick up: it says it is a virtual assistant, checks your planner, takes the booking and sends a text message. €5 excl. VAT a month, plus €0.20 excl. VAT per minute started.

- The AssistantHello Adrien, you’ve reached Délices de Laurent. I’m Marion, the restaurant’s virtual assistant: I can take your booking and answer your questions. What can I do for you?
- CallerHello, I’d like to book for tomorrow, half past twelve, two people.
- The AssistantYes, Tuesday 13 October at 12:30 for two people is available. I can book it for you. What is the surname for the booking?
- CallerAdrien Payet.
- The AssistantThank you. What is your mobile number for the confirmation?
- CallerZero six, twelve, twelve, twelve, forty-five.
- The AssistantLet me read that back: 06 12 12 12 45. Is that correct?
- CallerYes, that’s right.
- The AssistantLet me recap: a table for two on Tuesday 13 October at 12:30, under the name Payet. Is that correct?
- CallerYes, thank you.
- The AssistantBooking confirmed for 2 people on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at 12:30, under the name Payet. A confirmation text message has been sent to you. Thank you for booking at Délices de Laurent. We look forward to welcoming you!

View the guest recordThis card appears in the restaurateur’s workspace, with sample data.
- It recognises your regulars. If the caller's number matches a guest record, the card shows their name, number of visits, no-shows and the note on their record, and The Assistant greets them by first name. With no matching record, the caller is treated as a new guest.
- The booking shows up straight away. The card gives the date, time and party size, then “Booking created” with a link to the planner. It stays on screen for a few seconds after the call ends and closes with one tap.
- The status, not the conversation. The card shows where the request stands, never the content of the call: Resatop keeps neither the audio nor a transcript. Every role sees it; the link to the guest record is for the owner and the manager only.
In your restaurant's image.
- Its first name
- The one it gives the caller (30 characters). Without one, it introduces itself with a default first name.
- Your practical information
- Access, parking, terrace, pets, payment methods, menu (4,000 characters). It only answers practical questions from this text, and says it does not know when the information is missing.
- Your instructions
- Notes on tone or conduct (1,000 characters). They add to the assistant's basic rules; they do not replace them.
- Greeting by first name
- When the caller's number matches a guest record, The Assistant calls them by their first name and is warmer with a regular. It knows nothing else from the record and always asks again for the name and mobile number to book. A switch turns it off, on the same screen.
What cannot be customised: the greeting, which always announces a virtual assistant, and the voice. Time slots, quotas and the maximum party size come from your booking settings, the same ones as for the planner and the online page.
You keep your line.
- Keep your number and your phone. Your guests call as before.
- Set up call forwarding on no answer and busy line to your assistant's number. How you do it varies by carrier: the assistant screen gives the principle.
- Your team always picks up first. Do not forward all your calls: only a call left unanswered, or arriving on a busy line, goes to the assistant.
- Make a test call from a mobile and let it ring: you check the forwarding before putting the assistant into service.

Option, per restaurant€5excl. VAT / month
Per minute of call started€0.20excl. VAT, per call
- Minute started: a 20-second call counts as one minute, a call of 2 minutes 10 seconds counts as three.
- An example: two 2-minute calls in the month cost €5.80 excl. VAT (the option, plus four minutes).
- No cap on minutes: a conversation lasts five minutes at most, and you pay for what the assistant uses.
- The confirmation text message for each booking is billed €0.08 excl. VAT, like Resatop's other text messages.
- Billed by Stripe with your subscription, the following month. A paid subscription is needed: the trial with no card is not enough. The first month of the option is pro rata.
- Cancel at any time from Settings › Phone assistant: the service stops straight away, with no refund for the period already paid, and the minutes already used remain due.
In three steps.
Step 1 · Setup
You turn the option on
In Settings › Phone assistant, the account owner turns the option on (a paid subscription is required). Resatop then assigns a dedicated number to your restaurant; this can take from a few hours to a day.
Step 2 · During service
You customise it and forward your calls
You choose the assistant's first name, your practical information and your instructions. With your phone carrier, you set up call forwarding on no answer and busy line to the assistant's number, then make a test call.
Step 3 · Guest side
The Assistant takes the bookings
When your team does not pick up, it answers, offers the free time slots from your planner and creates the booking. A card appears in your workspace during the call, with the recognised guest's record and the booking created. You find the booking in the planner, with the source “Phone assistant”, and the guest receives a confirmation text message.
Known limits and real conditions.
What the product does today, and what it does not: better to know before you try it.
- The Assistant speaks French only.
- It only takes table bookings: it does not change or cancel a booking, never transfers the call to a person, and asks callers to ring the restaurant back for anything else.
- Above the maximum party size you have set, it does not book: it asks the caller to contact the restaurant.
- When your settings ask for a card guarantee for the party size, it does not book either: it points to the online booking page, because a card cannot be taken over the phone.
- It asks for a French mobile number (06 or 07) for the confirmation text message; the guest's email is optional.
- To protect against abusive calls, Resatop refuses hidden numbers and repeated calls from the same number before anyone picks up: the caller hears a busy tone. Guests known to your restaurant are never limited.
- Call forwarding is set up with your phone carrier, which may charge for it; how to turn it on varies by carrier. The mode where the assistant answers directly on your number is not offered yet.
- There is no cap on minutes: a conversation lasts five minutes at most, but the monthly total depends on how many calls your line forwards to it.
- Resatop keeps neither the audio nor the transcript of calls. It keeps the date, the duration and the billed minutes for thirteen months.
Frequently asked questions
Another question? Write to us.
How much does The Assistant cost?
€5 excl. VAT a month per restaurant (pro rata for the first month), plus €0.20 excl. VAT per minute of call started: a two-minute call costs €0.40 excl. VAT. Each confirmation text message is billed €0.08 excl. VAT, like Resatop's other text messages. Stripe bills everything with the following month's subscription. The option needs a paid subscription: the trial with no card is not enough.
Do I have to change my number or install anything?
No, you keep your number and your phone, and there is nothing to install. You do need to set up call forwarding with your phone carrier, on no answer and busy line, to the assistant's number. Your team always picks up first: only a call left unanswered goes to The Assistant.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, with no minimum term. The account owner stops the option from Settings › Phone assistant: the service stops straight away and the option is no longer billed from the next billing date. There is no refund for the period already paid, and the minutes already used remain due.
What can I customise?
The assistant's first name (30 characters), your practical information (4,000 characters: parking, terrace, access, menu…) and your instructions on tone (1,000 characters). The greeting, which announces a virtual assistant, and the voice cannot be changed. Greeting known guests by first name is on by default and can be turned off with a switch. Time slots, quotas and the maximum party size come from the booking settings you already have.
Does the caller know they are talking to an AI?
Yes, from the very first words: the greeting says it is the restaurant's virtual assistant, and this text cannot be edited. If the caller asks whether they are talking to an AI, the assistant confirms it. Resatop does not record the audio of calls.
Can The Assistant put the call through to someone on the team?
No. It takes table bookings and nothing else: no transfer to a person, no changes or cancellations. For anything else, it asks callers to ring the restaurant back, and your team will have had the first chance to answer since the assistant only takes calls left unanswered.
